¡Español con alegría! Learning Spanish with Heart and Humor

¡Hola! I’m Sra. Rocio Jacoby, a native Spanish speaker from Trujillo, Peru, who has called the United States home since 2000. I’m passionate about teaching and love sharing my language and culture with my students!

As a lifelong language learner myself, I speak English, French, and a little Italian, and I raised my three children to be bilingual. I understand that learning a new language can be both exciting and challenging, and I want my students to feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and discovering the joy of communicating in Spanish.

I am a National Board Certified Teacher in World Languages (Spanish) and hold a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Illinois Chicago. I also have ESL and Spanish endorsements, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Peru, where I specialized in foreign language teaching.

In my classroom, I believe learning should be meaningful, engaging, and fun! I love bringing humor into my lessons and creating a safe, supportive environment where every student feels welcome, confident, and encouraged to grow. Through comprehensible input and meaningful interactions, I help students develop their Spanish proficiency and strengthen their literacy skills, one step at a time.

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and friends, and cheering on my sons at their soccer games. I look forward to getting to know my students, sharing my love of Spanish with them, and helping them discover just how much they can accomplish. ¡Vamos a aprender español juntos!
